Andy Jordan, Vlogging Superstar!

Andy Jordan at the Wall Street Journal is making super duper cool videos! He is my new media vlogging hero superstar! And these steampunk technical doodads are pretty damn cool too...

And also of interest, Craig Stoltz's UsabilityTube Review of Jordan's videos with some biting commentary on vlogs like Stuck in VT as well - ouch:

But the Tech Diary videos illustrate one of the perils of doing “multi”media journalism when you have just one device around your neck. When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. When you have a video camera, everything looks like “a cool visual story.” As the tapes inevitably show, looks can be deceiving.

As journalists begin to enter the next stage of multimedia maturity, a good question emerges: How do you get the right tool in the hands of the right journalist at the right time for the right story?

The WSJ is getting hip? Wonder if it will survive the Murdoch ownership? Oh, gosh, just when I promised to have friends over for barbecue and do yard work, I fear I'll now be retooling my Sony VAIO. It would be worth it to see the expression on the Geek Squad techie when he arrives, and I say, "Uh, I think I may have messed up my operating system just a little..."

Junk Thief is definitely a Victorian futurist.

Man, that Craig Stoltz can be a tad biting. I hope he doesn't trash my new Junk Thief TV episodes. Surely he wasn't making reference to Stuck in VT!

eva,
Loved the andy jordan piece totally want one. I thought i was retrofuturistic with my phonograph that downloads on itunes but steam powered computers take the cake.
As for you and junkthief and all the bloggers don't let the craig stolzes of the world get you down. I think it is very cool and a sign of a more advanced time that ordinary people can share their passions with the world.
take care
