STRUT This Weekend

The 14 Annual South End Art Hop is upon us and the hood is stockpiling amazing works of art as we speak. Yours truly is going to be the MC at the first ever fabulous Art Hop Fashion Event: STRUT. The show is being held in the Specialty Filaments main room which is HUGE, beyond HUGE, and still has many holes in its concrete floor left over from its not-so-distant-past as a factory that made filaments for hairbrushes and toothbrushes (how cool is that?). The space could not be more perfect as many of the clothes are distressed and recycled.

The showcased designers are: Jennifer Dillner, Claudia Venon of Me & Louis, Xmas Maxon-Alley of Post Decadent, Chris Bissonette of Cexy, Ali Marchildon and Laura Cheney of Flashbags, Allison Bannister of Heinous Shrew, Joanne Kalisz and Eva Bishop of Damn Fine Pants.

I'll most likely be on a very tall platform with DJ Precious trying my best not to fall off, mispronounce anyone's name or make a complete idiot of myself - a little bit of an idiot is to be expected but please let it end there!

You can find the fashion show at 1 Howard St (cross St Pine) and there is a shopping cart arch to mark the spot. STRUT is Friday at 7:30PM and Saturday at 2PM. The Specialty Filaments building is also home to much visual art so you should definitely check it out!

Also Friday night is a killer set of 11 (?!!!) bands put together by the master svengali JB and including Nest Material (featuring Tanner once again) and The Smittens (featuring the fabulous Holly!). The show is at the Green Door Studio (corner of Pine and Howard) and it is going from 4:30PM to...who knows? Check it out!

Yeah, Brooke has been busting serious ass. I hope to see her again someday, once this unwieldy community event is over.
