Even when I am in a bad mood and smarting from negative feedback, my friend Molly always makes me glad.
Even if we are just lovingly touching every single rainbow/heart item in Claire's teen boutique, imagining brightly colored Halloween costumes, cutting a rug in Payless, marvelling at the consumer potpourri, and gawking at freaks and geeks in the local mall, I always have a good time with my friend Undead Molly.
I hope our next trip to the mall is soon. I need me some underpants. And yes, I am very gay.

I LOVE your stuff.
So much more honest, alive and refreshing than the crap that is made on TV. They shoot because they are paid to, and it shows. Your work comes from personal passion, trust me, that shows also.
New technologies are threatening the 'old boys club' of television. (who else could schlepp that crap around when it weighed 100 pounds).

Eva, we have three friends with bachelor's degrees in film studies. One from the University of Chicago (where Roger Ebert teaches film theory), two from UCLA. They are all very intelligent and talented. Do you know what they're doing now? One writes software for PDAs, one is a video game tester, and the last is an outdoor sports instructor.
My point is that technical knowledge and theory are important, but no matter how much of all that you've got it doesn't add up to what you have: passion, drive, and natural talent. Storytellers have been valued and revered in every culture for thousands of years - you are a storyteller.
Would knowing all about Dutch angles make you a better storyteller? I have no idea. But what fun to find out! I think that learning new things about the techniques of your craft can only be a good thing, but just be careful that they don't make you all structured and stiff and ucky like mainstream dumbasses.
You are successful because of your Eva-ness. Something nobody can ever learn from a book or a class.
And stop taking criticism from random online retards so hard! Or I'll start spray painting them on the side of your house.

it's true eva, don't let that criticism get you down. that guy is just jealous. you are so successful. and you do it all by being you. you do it all - shooting, interviewing, editing! dutch angles? who needs them.

I totally agree with Rosenblum and Molly. It's about your storytelling and aesthetic. You'll figure out the rest as you go along.

I know I have a lot to learn and that is ok with me because I quite enjoy learning. And it is true that I am passionately invested in telling these stories well which is a good thing or all the sleep deprivation needed to edit them would be a waste of my time.
I know I need a thicker skin when it comes to nasty internet comments (because they show no signs of ceasing) - especially when I choose to put my content online for people to see.
And I also know I need to care less about what other people think. And listen less to venomous detractors and more to positive feedback. Why does the negative always resonate so much louder?
Probably because I am an overly-emotional, sensitive, insecure artist, and I am always afraid of failure and sucking. So if someone attacks me, I crumble in defeat.
Stoopid really. Sorry for the babbling. I do appreciate the support. Honest.
PS and on the bright side of things, NOW I know what a Dutch tilt is!
